All season long premium subscribers will receive exclusive previews for the upcoming round of Bundesliga fixtures. Today, game week 3 kicks off! There is an early title 6-pointer, a must-win match at the bottom of the table, and countless other exciting encounters to keep you entertained.

FC Bayern v Bayer Leverkusen

There’s no debating what the biggest fixture of Matchday 4 will be. FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen are the only two sides with a perfect record in the Bundesliga after 3 gameweeks, and both have been imperious across their initial tests.

Particularly Leverkusen have quickly gone from long-shot title outsiders, to potentially Bayern’s biggest counterparts this campaign. Amidst Dortmund’s struggles, Leverkusen have risen to the top with attacking football centered around an electric new roster. Granit Xhaka has yet to contribute a goal or assist yet has still, arguably, been the most impressive player in the division, and the attacking tandem around Florian Wirtz, Jonas Hofmann, and Victor Boniface will require something special to keep off the scoresheet this season.

FC Bayern have also grooved into the new campaign with 9 points, but the international break hasn’t looked kindly upon their midfield core. Jamal Musiala was forced to pull out of the Germany squad with a muscle injury, Joshua Kimmich was dropped from the starting eleven after Hansi Flick’s dismissal, and Leon Goretzka was completely omitted despite a strong run of form to start the new campaign.

A return to club football is an opportunity to switch away from national team failure, but there’s no doubt that this disappointment will linger on throughout the fixture on Friday, and potentially stand in the way of winning all 3 points.

Prediction: Draw

SC Freiburg v Borussia Dortmund
